Welcoming Laura Coleman, PMHNP-BC, NC-BC, to Our Rockland County Team

Nushama is glad to welcome Laura Coleman, PMHNP-BC, NC-BC, to our Rockland County team.

Laura is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a Board Certified Nurse Coach who provides medication management and psychotherapy. She joins us this month at our Rockland County center in New City, bringing both psychiatric precision and a whole-person approach through nurse coaching.

Laura’s clinical background

Laura completed her nurse practitioner psychiatry training at New York University and is licensed to practice in New York state.

Much of her work centers on trauma. She sees adults experiencing stress, anxiety, PTSD, and both situational and generational trauma, as well as people managing co-occurring mental and physical health conditions. Her practice also covers:

Her approach is client-centered, drawing on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), humanistic therapy, and motivational interviewing depending on what each person needs. She is also trained in CBT-I (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia), mindfulness, and imagery therapies, and sees adults of all ages in individual sessions.

For members whose depression is closely tied to trauma, Laura’s background can shape how preparation and integration sessions are handled. These are the sessions before and after each treatment, where you set intentions beforehand and make sense of the experience afterward.

Whole-person care alongside prescribing

Laura holds both a psychiatric prescribing credential and a nurse coach certification, and the combination shapes how she practices. In nurse coaching, the person is the expert on their own life. Change comes from their own motivation, not from instruction. In practice, that means collaborative goal-setting, attention to sleep, stress, and daily rhythm alongside symptoms, and a nonjudgmental starting point.

In her own words:

“I believe mental health care is a therapeutic partnership between provider and client. Knowledge is power. Treatment plans and goals are not just dictated, they are explained, established and worked on together in a safe, supportive, and culturally sensitive environment.”

More capacity in Rockland County

With Laura on the team, our Rockland County center can offer more appointment times and greater scheduling flexibility for follow-ups.

Our Rockland County center is at 200 E. Eckerson Road, Suite 280, New City, NY 10956, minutes from the Palisades Interstate Parkway. You can reach the center at (845) 682-7200.

We accept Fidelis Care at our Manhattan and Rockland locations. Benefits and out-of-pocket costs vary by plan. Our team can help you understand what your coverage may look like before you schedule.

What to expect

Care at Nushama starts with a thorough screening and an open conversation about whether our treatments are a good fit. Ketamine-assisted therapy and Spravato are not right for everyone, and Laura’s role is to help you make that decision together.

As your prescriber, she’ll likely ask about more than symptoms: how you’re sleeping, what the last few years have looked like, what you want your life to feel like. The goal is a care plan you helped build.

Meet Laura

If you’re in Rockland County and wondering whether ketamine or Spravato therapy might be right for you, this is a good time to start the conversation. Our team can walk you through what these treatments are approved for, what they aren’t, and whether you may be a candidate.

Book a consultation at our Rockland County center, or call us at (845) 682-7200 to ask questions first. There’s no pressure to decide anything on a first call.

Nushama provides medically supervised ketamine and Spravato therapy in a clinical setting. Spravato is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression and for depressive symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder who have acute suicidal ideation or behavior; other uses of ketamine are off-label. Treatment outcomes vary, and these therapies are not appropriate for everyone. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
