Common Mental Health Insurance Terms

In-network

A provider who has a contract with your insurance plan, typically resulting in lower out-of-pocket costs.

Out-of-Network

A provider not contracted with your insurer; you may still receive partial reimbursement depending on your plan.

Deductible

The amount you pay out-of-pocket before your insurance begins covering costs.

Copay

A fixed amount you pay for a covered service at the time of your visit.

Coinsurance

Your share of costs after your deductible is met, expressed as a percentage (e.g., 20%).

Prior Authorization

Approval required from your insurance company before certain treatments are covered.

We accept insurance at both of our clinic locations. In New York, we are in-network with Aetna, United Healthcare, BlueCross BlueShield, and Medicare/Medicaid. In Florida, we are in-network with Florida Blue, Aetna, United Healthcare, BlueCross BlueShield, and Medicare/Medicaid. Not sure if your plan is covered? Give us a call and we’ll help you find out.

It depends on the treatment. Spravato (esketamine nasal spray) is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression and is covered by most major insurance plans when prior authorization criteria are met. IV ketamine infusions are not currently covered by insurance, as they are considered off-label. Our team can walk you through your options for both.

Easy — we handle that for you. Nushama has a prior authorization specialist on staff who can verify your insurance benefits before your first visit, so you know what to expect before you commit to anything.

We understand that cost can be a barrier, and we don’t want that to stand in the way of your care. Give us a call at (646) 394-9996 and our team will work with you to explore your options.

Yes! We partner with CareCredit, a healthcare financing option that allows you to spread the cost of treatment over time. We also offer scholarships for those who qualify. Reach out to our team to learn more.
