We are thrilled to share that Nushama Wellness was featured on Good Morning America’s third hour show to discuss the groundbreaking impact psychedelic therapy is having on the treatment of mental health conditions.
Nushama Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Steven Radowitz, a leader in the field of ketamine-assisted therapy (KAT), joined GMA co-hosts Eva Pilgrim, DeMarco Morgan, and Dr. Jen Ashton to shed light on the latest advancements in psychedelic therapy. He discussed how these innovations are revolutionizing the efficacy of meeting the unique needs treatment-resistant conditions, where Nushama members describe seeking out multiple forms of therapy for years without progress and eventually “hit a wall.”
Joining the segment was Dr. John Krystal, Co-Director at the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation, who calls ketamine-assisted therapy a “game-changer” for many people who haven’t seen results from their mental health treatment. Dr. Krystal says that for those who can use Ketamine, a high percentage of patients will see remission after just one session. And that most will continue to see continued relief with ongoing maintenance, Dr. Krystal continues:
“I think of Ketamine as an intervention that is part of an overall treatment. Ketamine can be something that can facilitate and enhance the impact of psychotherapy… I’m extremely hopeful.”
In a powerful testament to the efficacy of IV ketamine infusion therapy at Nushama, Nushama member Jessa describes to Eva Pilgrim how she felt after undergoing her first journey for treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); “Freer. I felt freer.”
Jessa was a spectator at the 2013 Boston Marathon when the bomb went off. She was subsequently diagnosed with PTSD and sought treatment for years, but she still struggled with symptoms of PTSD. That’s when Jessa underwent the treatment protocol for PTSD at Nushama. She describes her first experience:
“You kind of feel this dissolution, where you separate from your body. You realize that everything is so temporary. My suffering is temporary. Once you know that, it’s easy to transcend your fear of things.”
IV ketamine therapy at Nushama is given under medical supervision and paired with talk therapy with a trained integrationist.
This enlightening segment aired on ABC and Hulu on November 1, 2023, but is available on-demand on the ABC app and Hulu. You can also watch the full segment above.
